Refund Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-25. Every paid plan on Expensely comes with a 14-day refund window. No questions, no conditions, no exceptions. This page explains exactly how that works and how to claim it.
1. The 14-day promise
Every paid charge on Expensely — new subscription, renewal, upgrade, monthly or annual — is covered by a 14-day refund window starting on the date of the charge. If you ask for a refund within that window, we issue it. No questions, no conditions, no exceptions.
2. What's covered
- All paid plans, including Solo and Team.
- First-time subscriptions and renewals — the 14-day window restarts on every charge.
- Monthly billing and annual billing alike.
- Upgrades made within 14 days of the upgrade charge.
- Add-ons and seat increases purchased within the last 14 days.
3. What's not covered
The refund window only covers the items above. Outside of it, the following are not refundable:
- Refund requests made more than 14 days after the charge.
- Taxes (e.g. VAT, GST, sales tax) and processor fees that have already been remitted to a government body or payment network where we cannot lawfully recover them. We refund the maximum we lawfully can.
- Workspaces terminated for terms-of-service violations — fraud, payment-method abuse, or use of the Service for illegal activity. This is an anti-abuse safeguard, not a condition on legitimate refund requests.
4. How to request a refund
Email [email protected] with:
- The email address on your Expensely account.
- The date and amount of the charge you want refunded.
- Optionally, a brief reason — it helps us improve, but it is not required.
No form to fill out. No support ticket queue. A human reads your email.
5. Processing time
- We acknowledge every refund request within 1 business day.
- Approved refunds are issued within 5–10 business days to the original payment method.
- Final credit timing depends on your bank or card issuer and may take a few additional days after we issue the refund.
6. Automatic renewals
Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account — cancellation stops all future charges and takes effect at the end of your current billing period. See Terms section 8 for the full termination clause.
Cancellation is not the same as a refund. If you cancel during the 14-day window and want your money back for the current period, send a refund request as well — we don't do it automatically.
7. Disputes and chargebacks
If something looks wrong on your bill, please email us first. We commit to resolving legitimate refund requests within the timelines above. A chargeback filed with your bank typically takes 60+ days and may result in your workspace being frozen during the dispute investigation. Talking to us is faster and gets you the same outcome.
8. Annual subscriptions
Prepaid annual plans get the same 14-day refund window from the date of charge — this applies to the initial purchase and to each annual renewal. After 14 days, annual subscriptions are non-refundable and we don't pro-rate the unused months, but you keep full access to your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
9. Currency
Refunds are issued in the original currency at the original amount. We don't bear FX risk — if your bank converts the refund to a different currency on receipt, the converted amount may differ from what you originally paid in your local currency.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes — for example, a change to the length of the refund window — will be announced at least 30 days in advance via email and in-app notification. The policy in effect when you paid governs any active billing period you have already paid for.
11. Contact
Refund requests, billing questions, anything in between — [email protected].
